Romain Screve

Bio

As a Stanford undergrad studying data science and sustainability, Romain is committed to solving the most urgent earth problems. Growing up in the Caribbean and racing sailboats competitively since age 8, Romain has a special connection to the ocean and the life it nurtures. Most recently, he launched the Humans of the Reef initiative which aims to identify and spread the success stories of Pacific Island nations fighting to protect their coral reefs. After researching reef monitoring technology and conservation policy in the Pacific for the past 8 months, he deeply appreciates bold leaders willing to fight for the health of their land and community. Similarly, joining the Fifty Years team this winter, Romain loves working with bold founders and researchers who aren’t afraid to drive massive sustainable change without financial sacrifice. Learning the dos and don’ts of venture capital on the fly, he hopes to come out of his fellowship with a deeper understanding of impact investing and how to transform deep tech into a powerful lever for fighting the environmental crisis.
