Appointed in January 2009, has been Dean of Cass Business School since April 2007. Has previously held senior appointments in the City and government and most recently was Chairman of the Shareholder Executive, the body created in September 2003 to improve fundamentally the government’s performance as a shareholder in government-owned businesses. Previously worked as a banker with Kleinwort Benson. Chairman of European Investment Banking, acted as an adviser to the UK Government, which ultimately led to his appointment as Chief Executive of the Shareholder Executive. Also is a Non-executive Director of Tomkins and Scottish and Southern Energy. Non-executive Director of Debenhams until April 2009. Awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2008 in recognition of his services to the financial services industry. Studied law and qualified at Lovells. MBA at IMD, Lausanne
