Bio

Mr D'Amico has over 25 years’ experience in private equity, banking and strategy consulting. Since establishing Acanthus in 1998, Armando has advised general partners, limited partners and financial institutions from the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Israel and the US in fund conception, structuring and placement, strategy, investor relations and strategic acquisitions. Previously he was a special investment adviser to a European fund of funds advised by VenCap International plc. Before that he spent six years as a senior banker with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development where he was responsible for fund structuring, manager selection, management, investment approval and the monitoring of a number of private equity funds within a €700 million fund sponsoring programme. From 1982 to 1991 Mr D'Amicoworked both in the US and in Europe with Bain & Co, Alliance Consulting Group and Telesis. He has advised a large number of clients including Ciba-Corning Diagnostics, Corning Glass, DMC, Equitable Capital Management, the Gardini Group, Hachette Publishers, Polaroid Corporation, Rhône-Poulenc, Saint-Gobain, Sandoz Agribusiness, Telecom Italia, Telco Systems and Wang Laboratories. He is a regular speaker and panel chairman at private equity conferences, including Super Return, Capital Creation, Super Investor and the Central and Eastern European Private Equity Forum. Mr D'Amico has an MBA from INSEAD and a MSc in Geotechnical Engineering from Palermo University. He is fluent in Italian, French and English with a working knowledge of Spanish.
